Big Time is a blockchain based Action RPG, right now there is a playable beta version for Early Access and Space NFT holders.

At the moment of writing there are only a couple of other P2E game like it, the gameplay, the graphics and very experienced team behind the game, we could say that it’s like the NFT version of World of Warcraft and it’s important to note that it was the first game with this kind of quality launched on blockchain.

The team behind the development of the game is extremely talented after working on some of the most important traditional videogames franchises like Call of Duty, Overwatch, Grand Theft Auto or God of War, the team is completely doxxed and you can check the exact info about them in the ‘Team section.’

Although the game is announced as Free to Play, at the moment of writing you need to buy a specific NFT in order to access it, there is only one ‘free’ option and it’s possible by actively participating in their Discord or by trying your luck in some giveaways.

After playing the game for some time it can get repetitive due to lack of variety of the enemies and pretty simple and linear dungeons, hopefully once the full game is launched this issues will be fixed.

Big Time economy design is one of the most interesting decisions the team made as there will be no pre-sale or seed round and no allocations to the team or investors, their token will be only achieveable by playing the game and earning it by completing quests, killing enemies etc.

The team will conduct a major airdrop to all of the NFT holders that are also actively playing the game, the first snapshot was already taken and the team shoud distribute the first airdrop between February and March 2023.

All that combined make Big Time of the most anticipated blockchain games of 2023 although there’s no exact date and it can get delayed until next year.

Big Time has a great opportunity to become one of the most successfull P2E games, only looking at the gameplay and the graphics, you can already tell that it is one of the first games of its kind on blockchain.

Their approach to P2E is pretty innovative and interesting by giving the players all the power when it comes to their token which can only be earned by playing the game, the decentralization it’s a clever step forward for the project in our opinion.

Most of the actual blockchain games are very simple where the gamers stop playing after just few minutes, Big Time’s gameplay is really fun, the graphics are very good and it could change drastically the future of P2E games if their complex and innovative economy works as intented.

The main threat for Big Time is that there is a lot of hype around the project and it is well known that overhyped projects tend to disappoint.

The team recently releaed the economy overview and it looks really complex for average players and although we think that it’s a great idea to launch the token that can only be earned by playing the game, overcomplicating the overall economy could scare away potential new players.

Although the gameplay is very good and the story quite interesting, the game can get repetitive after some time, the team needs to introduce more enemies variety as well as create some really cool dungeons with different paths and secret locations. NFT drops are another weak point since most of the time it’s completely random and you can get rewards from simple enemies while defeating a really hard boss could give you no rewards at all.

In the last weeks and months many incredible games started to show up and many of them will act as direct competitors for Big Time, the team will have to put an extra effort in order to stand out among them.

Big Time was probably the first game on blockchain that offered impressive graphics and cool gameplay whereas at the same time the other games were extremely simple with little to no engagement and simply not fun to play.

The team developing the game is extremely talented and they worked creating games for years giving players and potential new investors a lot of confidence for the future, they worked on games like Overwatch, Fortnite, Call of Duty or God of War.

It’s also one of the only blockchain games that launched their games without doing any type of pre sales of their token, you’ll be able to earn it only by playing the game which is a great idea considering how many NFT based games failed because of terrible tokenomics.

You will be able to create your own metaverse in the game by purchasing Space NFTs, the bigger they are, the bigger possibilities you’ll have to build your dreamed home, the possibilities for building are really big, you can buy several Space NFTs and put them together and create your own personal metaverse.

Big Time started its early access version of the game on April 19th 2022 for all the Gold Pass holders, at the moment of writing the game is still in beta version and you can play by owning a Ruby Pass that can be purchased on a marketplace or owned by participating actively in their Discord.

The gameplay is really good and fun, especially with friends but the game needs some fixes like the improvement of NFT drops since most times you’ll get them in random places and most of the times you’ll get no rewards for beating the dungeon’s hardest boss.

The game looks good and runs smooth most of the time and although there is some lag occasionally it’s nothing really worrying.

Although the gameplay is cool we do find it to be a bit repetitive with not too many enemies or some game changing weapons, it would be interesting if the team put more effort in creating some more sophisticated maps as they feel a bit empty and linear at times.

Big Time is definitely one of the best looking blockchain games, even though it’s still in beta it already looks and runs better than most of other P2E games.

The gameplay is fun, the graphics are really nice and colorful, and the framerate is stable most of the time although some hiccups occur from time to time, you can clearly tell that an important and experienced studio is behind the game.

When you start playing Big Time for the first time you’ll get addicted very quickly as the gameplay is really good, playing with your friends is especially recommended since you’ll have a lot of fun but after playing for about 10 hours the game starts to get repetitive due to lack of enemies variety and simple dungeons that resemble each other.

If the team manages to sort out these issues it’ll definitely become one of the most popular blockchain games and it could easily be one of those games that you would play just for fun, even without the earning mechanism, only time will tell if they manage to deliver that kind of experience in the future.

Right now to play the game you’ll need a Early Access Pass NFT or any Space NFT. You can buy them on the official Big Time marketplace and Opensea, there is however a option to play the game for free by obtaining a Ruby Pass NFT by participating actively on their Discord or taking part in some giveaways. Once the full game is released you’ll be able to play the game for free without the need of any NFTs.

You’ll need to sign in with your Google account on their official website and once you redeem your Early Access Pass or purchase a Space NFT you’ll be able to download the game directly from there.

These are the minimum PC requirements in order to play Big Time:

• GTX 1060 or RX 580
• 8GB of RAM
• DirectX 11
• Intel core i5 4430
• 10 GB of space

At the moment of writing you can play the game with mouse & keyboard and although there is no official support for controllers you can use some third party software, hopefully the team will introduce official support as there are many players playing with a controller.

Big Time is very user friendly, once you download the game you can start playing right away. We recommend playing with friends, if they don’t have the game you can go ahead and search the map for other players and invite them to your group or use the AI players although it’ll be very hard to beat the dungeons that way.

The first thing you’ll need to do is to choose your character class, there are 4 different ones: Time Warrior, Chronomancer, Shadowblade and Quantum Fixer, after choosing one you’ll still be able to change to other class using the so-called Pocket Watches and each class will have its own level, XP and weapons.

Once you have your group (up to 6 people) you can search the map for dungeons, once you’re in the dungeon you can earn XP points by completing quests and killing enemies, if you’re lucky enough you’ll find NFTs of weapons, armors or even Space NFTs. Depending on the overall level of your party you can find different dungeon levels, there are some specific places on the map which have the highest level dungeons making the game more competitive and interesting.

Each kill will improve your stats and you’ll slowly start to level up your character, each level will require more XP in order to upgrade to the next one and it can take a long time to max level your character so be prepared for grinding!

The most important strategy aspect in Big Time is team work, it’s very important to have good team to be able to complete the dungeons more easily. It’s possible to play alone or with random players, but you’ll have a hard time, especially in the boss rooms which require a lot of skills, experienced players and good team work in order to succeed.

There is no training option but once you start playing you’ll be able to complete some very easy quests and enter low level dungeons where you’ll learn pretty quickly how the game works, in our experience you can learn all the basics in about 1 hour of gameplay.

It’s important to have at least one character of each class in your team, it gives you good advantage facing bigger enemies.

In order to equip high-end equipment like weapons or armor you’ll need to level up your character to a certain level which at the same time will give you access to higher level dungeons and quests although the NFT drops are completely random and sometimes you can find a very high level weapon but you won’t be able to use it for many hours until you level up, you can as well be a high level player and find low level gear.

Right now the only way to earn in Big Time is by collecting NFTs while playing the game which can be sold on the marketplace, the NFT drops are completely random and in the near future there will a possibility to earn in-game tokens called $TIME.

Big Time team recently released a completely new info of their economy which is quite complex with several NFTs that will have different utilities in the game and in our opinion it may be a bit overcomplicated and especially the traditional gamers could be scared off after seeing so much info from the start, you can check the exact info about all of the items in the next sections.

At the beginning of 2023, the team announced a mejor airdrop for the holders of Big Time NFTs, the first snapshot is already taken and the distribution should conclude in March 2023. The airdrop will consist in 153k Utility Collectibles (Armory, Forge, Time Warden), the more NFTs you hold and the higher rarity they are, the more points you’ll get for the upcoming airdrops, it’s important to note that you’ll have to play the game at least one each month to be elegible for the next waves of the airdrop. According to the announcement, the airdrops will continue until at least July 2023.

The best strategy to earn rewards in Big Time is by playing the game in a group of 6 and completing dungeons and missions by defeating bosses, once the $TIME token is launched you’ll be able to earn it by getting kills, completing quests etc. but at the moment of writing you can only earn NFTs that can be sold on the marketplace and it’s pretty hard to earn some considerable rewards.

During our play time we discovered that there is no exact calculation to know how long you need to play the game to earn 1 NFT, the team is constantly updating the drop rate, it’s important to note that the NFT drops are random and most of the times you’ll get Common items although there is a possibility of getting extremely rare NFT items like Spaces, Armory, Time Warden and Forge.

Most of the Utility NFTs have special bonuses and the higher the rarity, the higher potential rewards you’ll be able to earn. You can level up all of the Utility NFTs to be able to craft new items and upgrade weapons faster and you’ll also be able to have more perk slots in your crafted items and even the possibility to craft a higher rarity items.

If your main goal is to earn $TIME tokens, you’ll definitely want to have the highest rarity Hourglasses, to put it simple the higher the rarity, the more $TIME tokens you can earn, it is important to note that in order to max out your potential earnings you’ll have to equip as many as you can (There is a limit however of 5 Hourglasses at the same time).

The team announced that there will be a renting system giving players the option to lend their Space and Utility NFTs, the players who can’t afford buying a NFT will be able to participate in the economy by using those rented items for crafting materials or upgrading weapons.

There are a lot of different NFT items that affect Big Time economy and it can be really challenging to understand it all without reading it all many times and even then you’ll probably still have a lot of doubts, let’s take a closer look at all the items and their utility in the game:

• Space NFT: Probably the most important item in Big Time, it works as Virtual Land and one of its utilities is giving you the possibility of creating your own metaverse and inviting other players to hang out with you. There are 3 sizes available and 5 rarities, each one of them has a number of exits and 1 entrance, you can connect several spaces but in order to do that you’ll need to make sure that your entry from the first Space connects with the exit from another, it sounds complicated and it definitely is and it will probably be scary for new players. You can check some screenshot below that could help you undesrstand it a bit more. The main utilities are acquiring Cracked Hourglasses and connecting utility NFTs to your Space in order to be able to craft new items, upgrade weapons and armors and recharge Hourglasses
• NFT Mystery Boxes: There are 7 types of them and only a limited number are available for purchase. Each one contains 3 utility NFTs with several rarities, depending on which one you have available, you can check your percentage of getting a legendary NFT for opening each one of them in the screenshots below
• Forge NFT: You’ll need them in order to craft new items, refine shards and upgrade existing items like weapons and armors. There are 10 rarities and 4 different colors and each color will have 3 types that could potentially give you extra bonuses. Each Forge NFT can also by upgraded by earning EXP points
• Armories NFT: Those items are used for upgrading cosmetic collectibles and refining shards. Similarly to Forge NFTs there are 10 rarities and 4 colors and 3 types with several bonuses attached to them
• Time Warden NFT: You’ll need it in order to craft, upgrade and recharge Hourglasses, there are 10 rarities and 4 different types, each Time Warden will have 2 colors that will give you bonus rewards depending on which colors you have
• Hourglasses NFT: A very important item that you’ll need to equip in order to earn $TIME tokens in-game, there are 10 rarities which can generate more or less tokens, you’ll be able to equip up to 5 Hourglasses at the same time in order to earn the most

All this info is just the tip of the iceberg, there is a ton more of info to learn about the utility and rarities of each NFT which can be really confusing, on the one hand it’s really nice that the token will be earnable only by playing the game, but on the other hand the NFT situation is really complex and overcomplicated for no reason, there is definitely too much going on here and although there will be a Free to Play version for casual players, there is no need to complicate things so much for P2E players.

Big Time has its own off-chain marketplace where they sell all of their NFTs, but they also sell some NFTs on Opensea and Binance NFT marketplace.

They did sales in the past on Binance NFT marketplace like Space NFTs one on December 21 2021, where they had 60k Space NFTs on sale.

There was also “Exalted Space sale“ on Big Time’s website recently (only exalted and mythic spaces were on sale), there was no whitelist for any of them, it was on a first come, first served basis.

It’s important to note that you’ll need to verify your identity if you plan to hold more than $2k worth of items or if you plan to withdraw any quantity to external wallets. In our opinion it’s not the best solution and many players will not want to do it limiting access to many of them. At the moment of writing the only payment token accepted is $USDC although they will enable payments with other cryptocurrencies in the future.

There was a bit of controversy with Spaces, many complained that they paid a lot of money on these sales, and since people can earn the same spaces while playing the early access, the selling pressure caused the prices to drop drastically, the team never announced that it would be possible to earn Spaces by playing the game.

Some of the NFTs can be crafted in-game like Hourglasses, it’ll be up to you if you plan to use them or sell them on a marketplace.

$TIME will be the main and the only token available in Big Time, the max supply will be 100,000,000,000 and unlike in other blockchain games there won’t be any presale, team allocation etc. and the only way to earn it will be by playing the game which in our opinion is a great idea giving the players the power to control the game’s economy.

The team announced that they’ll airdrop 130M $TIME tokens to the community this year although no exact dates and the exact requirements were announced but after seeing the requirements for the collectibles airdrop it looks like the more you play and the more NFTs you hold, the higher the airdrop will be.

The token won’t be available for trading on any marketplace nor in-game, it will have several utilities in the game and you will need to perform activities like:

• Refining
• Crafting
• Upgrading
• Speeding up activities
• Accessing secret zones and dungeons

You will be able to earn $TIME only if you’re equipped with Hourglasses NFT, there will be a limited number of them available so not every player will be able to do so, which will increase the demand for it.

We played the game for more than 10 hours during the Silver, Jade and Ruby Early Access and we’ve been able to compare the loot drops during each one of those.

During the Silver access we were able to get 1 NFT for every 2 hours played and most times we got a uncommon NFT and only 2 times we got a rare NFT.

During Jade and Ruby access the drop rate was extremely low in our experience, we only got 1 NFT after playing for several hours.

You have to keep in mind that all this happened during early access and the team will definitely change the drop rate in the future beta versions and of course you’ll be able to also earn $TIME tokens in the near future changing completely the P2E system in Big Time.

There was a lot of controversy among the community, especially with the people that had Gold Pass as many of those players were able to get several Space NFTs which at that time were very expensive and it has brought the prices down by a lot. The main problem is that the team never announced that you could potentially earn Space NFTs by playing the beta and many players spend a lot of money on them without having this info before the Early Access started.

The team tweaked the drop system quickly after the complaints but it was already too late and many gamers were extremely disappointed, hopefully the team learned form their mistakes and in the upcoming betas the earning system will work as intented, we will update this section as soon as we test new versions.

Big Time has some of the highest follower numbers of any blockchain game although the engagement is not great sadly, they are present on a lot of social media platforms and here are the exact numbers:

• Let’s start with Discord where the community engagement is the highest for Big Time and they have more than 393k users, 11% of them are online on average
• Big Time official Twitter was created in February 2021 and has 258k followers and although this number is really incredible, the engagement is not as great and their posts receive around 100 likes and between 10-20k impressions during the first week which is a pretty low number comparing to their huge following
• On Telegram there are 27k members, the engagement here is pretty low and the team doesn’t even promote it on their website
• Their Youtube channel has 12k followers, the team is quite active here uploading videos regularly, they have good view numbers on all of them
• On Twitch they have 10k followers, the team doesn’t stream very often here but it’s where they announce their most anticipated news
• Big Time also has Instagram, where they post short videos from the game, they have 27k followers and the activity is normal
• Reddit has 2.1k members but the team activity and community engagement are practically non existent
• Facebook has 5.2k followers and although the team is active here, the engagement is very low with their posts receiving less than 20 likes
• Team uses Medium to post the most recent news, explain their future plans and explain the utility of their NFTs among others

As you can see Discord and Twitter are their main social media accounts, but only Discord has really good engagement and it’s the best place to stay up to date with news about Big Time.

Discord is without a doubt Big Time’s main community channel, with almost 400k users, you can see that the community is pretty active here and it’s the best place for the latest news, check all of their official links and chat with other gamers.

There are 4 news channels and 10 community channels, general channel is the most active one and where the most users discuss about the game and it’s fairly common to see several team members talking with the community which is really cool and unusual.

There are channels dedicated to posting your feedback and concerns about the early access version, the mods are usually very helpful and will help you in what they can.

Guild recruitment channel is great if you want to form part of a guild, every day there are several guilds promoting themselves there and you can spend a lot of time reading through all of them and choose your favorite to apply.

You can see that the community, mods and the team are helpful and the overall mood on their Discord is very positive.

Big Time’s CMO (chief marketing officer) is Michael Migliero, he has some experience in marketing, he worked at Akamai Technologies as Product Marketing Associate, he also worked for Machine Zone, one of the global leaders in mobile gaming. He has several endorsements on his Linkedin page from his previous coworkers.

He was the CEO and Co-founder of Fractional Media for 5 years, although there is not much info about this company.

In our opinion his experience in Marketing may not be sufficient for a project like Big Time but as always time will tell if he lives up to the expectations…

• Zach is the Community Manager and he started working as such in November 2022, he has no experience as Community Manager, his experience includes being an Actor and Content Creator, he has a very successful TikTok channel with more than 1 million followers

Big Time team announced that their game will run on ETH blockchain, interestingly thanks to “Patented Vault Technology” users will not incur transaction gas fees when they buy/sell/transfer Big Time NFTs as long as it’s on their marketplace, meaning that all your NFTs will remain off chain until the time where you want to withdraw it to external wallets or list it on other marketplaces in the future

In our opinion it’s a great idea to have all the items off-chain, it’s a decision made thinking about their users.

Ethereum blockchain just few months ago did the first ever PoW (Proof of work) transition to PoS (Proof of stake). It completely changed the future of ETH lowering its energy consumption by 99,95% and opening a possibility for speed increase while making transactions and lower fees in the future.

It’s also important to note that it’s one of the most secure blockchains and with the most active users doing thousands of transactions every day, it’s also the blockchain with the widest selections of wallets making it very user friendly

Big Time has several different NFTs available for purchase on their own marketplace and Opensea, but you won’t be able to buy their $TIME token anywhere as it will be only achieveable in-game by playing and beating dungeons and enemies.

The token won’t be tradeable and there will be no allocation to the team or investors, you’ll be able to use it only in the game where it’ll have several utilities

There are many different NFTs on their marketplace, you can see that there is a lot of price difference between them, starting with the cheapest ones ($1) and ending with the most expensive ones like Exalted Space NFT ($4.4k), you can also buy some of their NFTs on Opensea and Binance marketplace

Here are some of the most important items you can buy right now:

• Space NFT ($59 floor) – The most important item in Big Time used to create your own metaverse, upgrade NFTs and access closed beta versions of the game
• VIP passes ($56 floor) – These passes were used to obtain access to early playable versions, right now you only need any Space NFT to do it
• Weapon NFT ($1.49 floor) – There are dozens of different weapons available with different rarities, the most expensive ones cost around $700
• Armor NFT ($5 floor) – Aside from being a cosmetic items, they can provide your character several bonuses and unique skills
• Mystery Boxes ($45 floor) – Each one contains 2-3 random utility NFTs

Although we do like that they’re using their off-chain marketplace, there is no way to know which items are getting sold and for how much, the team should address this issue.
