The two biggest competitors are Yield Hunt and Defira, but they are nowhere near where DeFi Kingdoms is now. Also they both seem like imitations of DFK.

Right now DeFi Kingdoms are the biggest in their field. That must mean they are doing something right. The roadmap is a really good feature. So far it seems that they have not missed big deadlines, which is pretty neat in the crypto world.

This browser game is focussed on progression with different game aspects. With liquidity pools, staking and the heroes there really is something for every demographic. The artwork will attract a certain public, but the gameplay will definitely attract more people as well. The artwork is quite specific. You will have to like a pixel game. It kind of has a feel of an old school game, so it will probably attract the people who played these and not so much the younger generations. It has very cute animations though and with the new launch Crystalvale they will give everything a winter theme makeover. So the heroes will have winter coats.

The game has a certain addiction where you want to grow your JEWEL. There are different ways to earn JEWEL and to use your JEWEL (enough use cases to ensure the value of the token). This means you want to try different ways and see what works best for you.

As this is a browser game, anyone with a pc can play this game. You don’t need a high-end processor as it is a pixel game. Furthermore, you will definitely need some ONE in your Harmony wallet or with the launch of Crystalvale you can also have AVAX in your Avalanche wallet.

With the ONE you can swap the token in-game for JEWEL (these trading fees will go to the jeweler and be rewarded to the players who have their JEWEL staked in the bank). That is all you need to play the game and be ready to buy some heroes, stake at the jeweler or buy liquidity seeds and plant these in the gardens.

Tobias I think you need to explain a little more what ONE is? a special token? how to get it? And the harmony wallet, is this an in game wallet? Easy to set up? I think being part of the setup the bullet points taken from “how to play” should be here. but I am now a little confused with the wallets? how do you get ONE in you harmony wallet or into your Metamask /coinbase wallets, from an exchange? This part please help to clarify.

The developers built in a clever mechanism to ensure that long-term holders, early adopters and enthusiasts will be the most heavily rewarded and incentivized.

The unlocking of JEWEL takes a full year to be completed and during this time the demand for JEWEL will likely greatly increase. As the Jewel rewards are reaching the end of their primary issuance phase, CRYSTAL issuance will be in full swing and you need JEWEL to get CRYSTAL and to have the game on AVAX could end up being 10 times larger then on Harmony.

With the unlocked portion in the gardens players will be in the game for a long time. They will want the value of the token to stay at a certain level and will keep being involved in the game. This is also good for the longevity of the game.

Another thing is the mechanics of the gardens and the bank it really illustrates how much thought has gone into the tokenomics of this game.

As for the heroes, not only are they usuable in many ways, there is still so much progression to be made with them going forward.  There really an earning interest for every kind of player.

However there are also land nft’s, which still need a use case. In the update, the Castle, you can buy land. The cheapest land right now is 33.000 JEWEL, so obviously for the bigger investors. Possible things you can do are mining on your land, finding resources etc.

• Gardens. The gardens in Serendale right now have an APR of around 330%. However, a part of the rewards will be locked and after 51 epochs (around a week) this will unlock linearly (annually?). With an investment of $1k the ROI is 18 weeks. The only thing is that your rewards will be locked. So, strictly speaking it’s not 18 weeks, but a year untill you can get the money out.
• Heroes
  • Questing. With quests you get rewards, which you can sell for gold. Generally, all things can be sold for gold, which can then be used to buy certain items, or swapped through Trader Matoya for JEWEL. With buying one hero (right now 66 JEWEL for a foraging hero) you get your investment back in 5 weeks, based on an average quest reward of $2.66.
  • Summoning. When you summon, you pay for heroes, summoning fees and then you get a new hero. The ROI can not really be calculated, because it depends immensely on what hero you get. If you are lucky you get your investment back after one summon.
  • Renting. You can also rent your hero out to be summoned for a fee you choose. After 6 or 7 summons you can get your investment, depended on what hero you have.

Our strategy:

We went in Serendale with ONE which we traded for JEWEL. This we put in the Jeweler, while we waited for Crystalvale to launch on March 30th. At this time the token JEWEL had doubled in value. We got our investment back and went partially into the Crystal gardens. For a chance of a gen0 hero we staked into the Jeweler as well and after the snapshots we put this Crystal in the gardens too.

Most important is that you buy the token at a low price and then you can try different strategies in the game.

Liquidity

With the gardens or liquidity pools they assure there will be enough liquidity throughout the game. A part of the JEWEL/CRYSTAL will be locked up over the course of a year and will then start unlocking linearly over another year. This creates liquidity long term in the game. You can either choose for the highest APR% or choose a coin pair you like. There is higher risk and lower risk, so it depends what you like to spend.

Staking

You can either put your JEWEL/CRYSTAL at the jeweler for a percentage of the trading fees for when players are trading in-game or you can put JEWEL/CRYSTAL with another token in the gardens. Both ways you get rewards for creating liquidity in the game.

There is no vesting schedule as in the usual tokenomics. There are two ways in the game to assure tokens are not distributed all at once. Number one is every time there is a transaction in the game, the tokens will be divided over different things, see Team Allocation. not sure what you mean by see team allocation here, and when you divided over different things,  which things, and how does this mean they are not distributed all at once?

Besides this, there are the gardens with the locking up of the tokens. Right now the JEWEL token. These will start to unlock from July 2022. In the meantime, from April 2022, there will be CRYSTAL pools building up locked CRYSTAL. For these pools you will need JEWEL. This way the developers really made sure of keeping the use case up and not having the tokens unlocked at one. This ensures big dumps of the tokens.

“In DeFi Kingdoms, whenever you summon, there is a fee you have to pay in JEWEL. Additionally, whenever you sell or rent one of your heroes out on the Tavern, there is a 3.75% fee charged. These summoning costs and Tavern fees are all a fundamental part of the game’s tokenomics and economy.”[1]

The developers behind this project are incredibly good at including their community on every little decision being made. For that reason this community and project are going to flourish. The developers are very involved, the community has a say and pretty much everything happens through voting polls. And overall the outlook and the communication style that this project has, is good for the future of this project.

The Discord server is very active. They do good announcements to keep the community up to date. They also even have a Youtube Channel where they have some instructive videos.

“The team members of DeFi Kingdoms are transparent yet anonymous. Team members have their wallet addresses, and social media handles are public. However, they go by nicknames such as Frisky Fox, Professor Tango, and Jericho Splendershoes, while no one knows who they are.

In the case of DFK I think that communication, the ability to deliver (unlike many other projects failing to meet promises), the fact they laid out in detail an exhaustive roadmap and did exactly what they said they would, are all evidence that the team is top-notch.

With that said, the biggest issue is that the team is still anonymous. But with the crypto space being pro-privacy it isn’t super surprising that the founders opted for this. The team is delivering and has great communication with the community.”

Frisky Fox and some other team members do weekly AMAs (ask me anything) with the community which is great. The team so far has delivered, they update weekly. It shows that the team is working hard to make their vision a reality. Deadlines have always been met.

The team is not currently doxxed for personal reasons, though many of them would like to do so in the future. They encourage you to view their track record of development and commitment to the project, examine the smart contract audit, attend the weekly team AMAs (Mondays at 18:00 UTC) on our Discord server, and, of course, to DYOR.

Experience blockchain games

For the back-end development the team consists of eight people, two solidity developers, a solidity manager, an API wizard and a warlock, an automation developer, a back-end director and an executive director. This seems like a good combination of people having experience on the blockchain to work out a good gameplay on the blockchain.

DFK is on Harmony One and recently they have expanded to Avalanche. The fees on Avalanche are higher, but they have their own subnet for that, DFK Chain Mainnet. Here JEWEL is the gas fee, which is good for the use case and value of the token.

Harmony One is a fairly green blockchain. Avalanche is known for its speed and eco-friendliness. Both good blockchains to be on.

There is already so much to enjoy in DeFi Kingdoms, but there is so much more to come. They have a detailed visual roadmap that fits the game style as well. There are no dates when the next launches will be, but the most recent launch was Crystalvale on March 30th.

They also have two domains for the game. The first one is the normal one where you can play the game and the second one is a beta one where you can see what they are working on next. This is a really cool feature from the team and gets you excited on what’s coming next. It is also a reassurance that they are working on the game/project.

Their roadmap is very exciting and detailed. This has the possibility of attracting a lot of different players.

The thing that most players of the game are most exciting for is the launch of PvP and PvE. The hero NFTs have been in the game for some time and while you can do quests with them, it will be very exciting to be able to actually battle with them. This will surely attract more players as well.

Players are also excited for Pets. This is the next event in Serendale and may give the gamers who have been earning eggs with quests some answers what they will be able to do with them.

The developers of the game have certainly delayed some of their milestones, as any project has, but they have met every event that was promised. They also keep the community well up to date with announcements in Discord for example. You can feel the community is very satisfied with all the events/milestones that have been met.

The launch of Crystalvale on March 30th was the most recent big milestone. Even though there were a few hiccups, the developers let the community know how they were fixing every little thing and even postponed the start of the Crystalvale Gardens, so that gamers had a chance to get in with the slower transition.

Currently there are three ways to play DeFi Kingdoms. To start playing the game, it depends on the amount of risk you are willing to take and if you want passive income or active gameplay:

• The Jeweler is easy to get into, but low rewards.
• The gardens are high risk, more rewarding and for passive income.
• Lastly, the heroes are for active gameplay. Here the rewards depend mostly on the time you put into research and gameplay.

So far, the game has turned out good and it would be a good idea to buy the tokens now and get in the game. The gardens are the most rewarding for passive income, which is something anyone can get into and start earning some money.

It depends on your standpoints going into the game:

• Low risk + passive income: The Jeweler is low-risk, so you can put any amount of JEWEL in there to start earning a little passively.
• High risk + passive income: With the gardens you can also start earning passive income, but because you need to pair a token with another one, you need a bit more budget. This is also more risk than the Jeweler.
• Medium risk + active gameplay: You have the option to invest in heroes. This means more active gameplay. You can send them on quests, summon new heroes, rent them out or sell them for profits.

You can buy hero NFTs at the marketplace in the game itself. The floor price for forging a good hero right now is 66 JEWEL, so you will need some funds to buy more NFTs. A good strategy would be to buy one or two heroes first and see how it works for you.

At the castle you can buy land NFTS. These go for 33.000 JEWEL right now, so not really for the small investors.

To earn the most yield in a short time, the best strategy is to buy a few heroes. You can do 8 quests in 5 hours and if you consistently do quests you will get your investment back the fastest. The gardens are the best for bigger passive income. This will keep you in the game for longer though, with part of the rewards being locked up.

From July 2022 the JEWEL from the gardens will start to unlock. It is possible that there will be some token dumps then, but the unlock will still be gradual over one year.

Crystalvale just launched and there will be heroes in this realm too. These will likely go live within the next month (May 2022).

The game won’t be changing their economy anytime soon, as they figured out a very good system which works and keeps the community happy.

There is no clear exit strategy for DeFi Kingdoms. Especially with the launch of Crystalvale and possibly new realms in the future. A possible exit strategy for heroes is selling all your heroes for the one realm and get in the next one. You use the JEWEL for the next Gen0 heroes. This will be a better investment than keeping you Gen4 or Gen5 heroes.

With the gardens the exit strategy will be when your JEWEL is unlocked after two years. Then you can either sell all your JEWEL or re-invest it back into the game.
